Hot Cakes was born at the Seattle farmers markets in 2008, with our namesake product – molten chocolate cake. Deeply chocolatey, warm, gooey in the middle, and cakey on the outside. It’s chocolate cake living its best life. For four years, we could be found every weekend at the farmers markets selling raw, frozen cake batter in mason jars for dessert lovers to bake at home – our Take & Bake molten cakes.

In 2012, we opened our first dessert restaurant on Ballard Avenue, just up the street from the farmers market where it all began. Still to this day, the most popular dessert on our menu is the original cake from 2008, the Dark Decadence, and nothing has changed in the recipe for 12 years. In 2015, we opened our second location on Capitol Hill, and in 2024 we opened our third location within SoDo, just down the road from the stadiums in the heart of Seattle wine tasting.

We make a line of dessert sauces and jars of smoked chocolate chips which we sell nationally in specialty grocers, as well as via our website with nationwide shipping. Whether its adorning a snack, eating by the spoonful, or used in an at-home heirloom recipe, you can recreate Hot Cakes from the comfort of your home.

Over the years, we have won many awards and received numerous heart-warming accolades for our commitment to quality and innovation. To this day, we continue to embody the PNW vision and mission that we were founded on. Our focus is simple -  to make the most delicious, organic desserts in the city, and do so with kind, knowledgeable and gracious hospitality. We advocate for the state that we call home- oftentimes using our voice for the preservation of wild and farm lands. We exist to provide a unique and positive experience for our community to make memories in, and we love to invest back into our community by partnering with other local, small businesses that share our commitment to high quality ingredients.
